The British Council Libraries
British Council is the United Kingdom's International Organization for Cultural Relations and Educational Opportunities. It operates directly under the British High Commission. It has offices in four metro cities of India i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai and have public libraries in 11 cities in the country. Apart from the regular library services the libraries also collaborate with the council in furthering the cultural and educational roles. These libraries are excellent place to learn English and are very much active in conducting English Language proficiency test IELTS. The libraries are extremely modern in terms of resources and international level of services and are trend setters in India.

The British Libraries are operational in following cities in India,

The Council has similar centres in 110 countries around the globe. The operations are funded mainly by The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Other sources of revenue are collobaration with both public and non-public sector organizations and English language courses and examinations.
