Rules

• Being public libraries, services are open to all the citizens.
• Anybody can walk in and access the reading room, read newspapers, magazines etc.
• However, book borrowing service is available to registered library members only.
• Each registered member is entitled to borrow a certain number of books, for a certain period of time, depending on his/her category, i.e. adult, children etc.
• Library authorities can deny or revoke membership or penalize any registered member, if found to be breaking the rules and regulations.
• Reference material cannot be issued by the library, under any circumstance. Such material is meant to be consulted inside the library building with due permission from the concerned staff.
• A registered member is liable for the safe custody of the books borrowed by him/her. In case of any damage, he/she is liable to pay the fines/penalty, as per rules.
• In case of loss of library membership card, the member should inform the library staff immediately. The member will be responsible for any misuse in such a scenario.
• The library authorities can temporarily shutdown the library services in extreme circumstances like, acute staff shortage or stock verification etc.
• The library timings and holidays are fixed, and cannot be readjusted as per the requirements of an individual or a group.
