Rajkya Sarvajanik Zila Pustakalya (District Library), Baran

Origin

The library was established as Tehsil library in 1954 as the Baran was a tehsil headquarter under Kota district of Rajasthan. On 10th April 1991 it was carved out as a seperate district. In 1996 the library was also upgraded to District Library.

Building

The library has a single storey building. The building used to be residence-cum-office of the local administration and was handed over to the library later on. The building has stack room, reading room, office and librarian's room etc.

Location

The library is located on the station road near the Char Murti Chowk.

Collection

The library has a rich collection of 22700+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special sub-collections according to DDC 19th Edition. Cataloguing of library study material using e-pustakalya is on.

The library subscribes to 15 newspapers in English & Hindi and 38 magazines.

Membership

The library offers membership for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. The membership fee is as under,

Information Technology

The library has one computer with internet connectivity and TV is available for children section Members.

Working Hours

The library remains closed on every Tuesday. The library timings vary according to the season.

• Summer (I^st April to 30^th September) 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
• Winter (I^st October to 31^st March) 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
