Rajkya Sarvajanik Zila Pustakalya (District Library), Dholpur
Origin
The library is one of the oldest functional libraries in the state. It dates back to pre-independence period. The construction of the building was started on May 11, 1933. The British agent in the state played an active role in the establishment of this library. The library was functional in early 1940s. During the course of time it was shifted to many different rented locations. It had started as public library of the Dholpur princely state, then it was converted into a Tehsil library. In April, 1991 it became District Library and was again shifted to its original place of birth the prestigious Jublee Hall.
Building
The library has a state of the art, maginificent building. The building has a spacious, well decorated hall that serves as stack room-cum-reading hall. the building is in the center of a beautifull garden.
Location
The library is located on the Ghantaghar Road. It is about 2 KMs south of the city bus stand and around 3 Kms from the city railway station.

Collection
The library has a rich collection of 17,165+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special sub-collections according to DDC 19th Edition.
The library subscribes to 15 newspapers in English, Hindi & Gujrati and 60 magazines.

Membership
The library offers membership for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. The membership fee is as under,
Membership Fee: - Adult Rs 21 (form price Rs 1)
- Children Rs 5 (Form price Rs 1)
Information Technology
The library has three computers with internet connectivity. The library is also automating its collection using e-pustakalya. Photocopy facility is also available for library members at the nominal rate of Rs 1/page. In children section TV and DVD is available for younger members.
Working Hours
The library remains closed on every Tuesday. The library timings vary according to the season.
- Summer (Ist April to 30th September) 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
- Winter (Ist October to 31st March) 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
