Rajkya Sarvajanik Zila Pustakalya (District Library), Sri Ganganagar

Origin

Sri Ganganagar is the district headquarter of the district with the same name. It is the northern most district of Rajasthan State. It is one of the most planned cities of Rajasthan. It was established by Maharaja Ganga Singh. It is located where Satluj river enters Rajasthan state. It was part of Bikaner state.

The library was established in the year 1956.

Building

The library has its own single storey building. The building has a Reading Room, Stack Room, Newspaper and Magazines section etc.

Location

The library was located at a distance of about 425 kms from national capital New Delhi and around 580 Kms from state capital Jaipur.

The library is located on the Rabinder Path near the Bhagat Singh Chowk. It is about 0.5 Km from the city bus stand and 1.5 Kms from the city railway station.

Staff

Collection

The library has a rich collection of 43,500+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special sub-collections according to DDC 15th Edition.

The library subscribes to 13 newspapers in English & Hindi and 45 magazines.

Membership

The library offers membership for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. The membership fee is as under,

Information Technology

The library has one computer with internet connectivity and a printer for office use.

Working Hours

The library remains closed on every Sunday. The library timings vary according to the season.

• Summer (I^st April to 30^th September) 11:00 noon to 7:00 pm
• Winter (I^st October to 31^st March) 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
