Rajkya Sarvajanik Zila Pustakalya (District Library), Kishangarh (Ajmer)

Origin

The library was established in 1956. It is actually the district library of Ajmer district but as the Ajmer city already has a divisional library the district library was established at Kishangarh.

Building

The library is offering its sevices from from a rented building. It was started in another rented building in near Aggarwal Senior Secondary School owned by Jain Samaj. Later it was shifted to the present building owned by Municipal Committee. There used to be a reading hall named Nehru Vachanalya, it was merged into the district library. The library has a hall and two room. The hall is being used as the reading room and partially as stack room. The two rooms are being used as stack rooms.

The library is located near the Madan Ganj main chowk (circle)

Staff

Collection

The library has a rich collection of 45000+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special sub-collections according to DDC 19th Edition. A great part of the book catalogue is available in electronic format in e-pustakalya.

The library subscribes to 7 newspapers in English & Hindi and 53 magazines.

Membership

The library offers membership for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. The membership fee is as under,

Membership Fee:

• Adult Rs 21 (form price Rs 1)
• Children Rs 10 (Form price Rs 1)

Information Technology

The library has one computer that is being used for office work and automation of library collection using e-pustakalya.

Working Hours

The library remains closed on every Tuesday. The library timings vary according to the season.

• Summer (I^st April to 30^th September) 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
• Winter (I^st October to 31^st March) 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
