Seth Lakshmi Chand Savai Ka Rajkiya Sarvazanik District Library, Kotputli
Origin
Kotputli is a town in Jaipur district of Rajsthan. It is the combinatin of the main town of Kot and the nearby Putli village, which is now considered an important part of the main town.
Kotputli was established by Tanwar Rajputs and in those times it was famous as 'Torawati'.
The library was estabished in colonial era by Raja Amar Singh and was known as Amar Pustkalya (Library). It was also famous as Sri Lakshmi Chanda Swai Public Library. In Feb 2006 the library was taken over by the district administration and upgraded into a district library.
Building
According to historical records the construction of the library building was completed in April 1919. Later the building was expanded by the local administration to accomodate the growing number of books and readers. Now the library has a two storey building. The library has reading room, stack room, librarian's room, office, children section and store on the Ist floor.
Location
Kotputli is located on NH-8 at a distance of 106 Kms (approx.) from state capital Jaipur and 165 Kms (approx.) from national capital New Delhi. While travelling from Delhi to Jaipur, Kot is on the left and Putli is on the right.
The library is located in the Azad Chowk area near the SDM Court (Kachehri), 10-15 minutes walk from the main bus stand of the city. It is 500 Mts East of NH-8.

Collection
The library has rich collection of 15000+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special collections arranged according to DDC-19 classification scheme with AACR2 catalogue. The process of automation is underway using E-pustakalya.
The library also has a small but valuable collection of rare books.
The library subscribes 11 newspapers in English & Hindi and 35 magazines.

Membership
The library has around 30 registered active members for this session. The library also offers life time membership. It has 29 lifetime members till now.
The annual membership is offered for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. A refundable security of Rs 1000/- needs to be paid at the time of Ist registration by outsiders in the absence of any quranttee from a local authority. This secutiry is carried forward during periodical renewals.

- Children (5-14 years) Rs 51 (form price Rs 1 extra)
Information Technology
The library makes use of 3 computer for office work. The automation of library operations will start soon. The library offers photocopy facility to its members at the nominal rate of Rs 1/page. The library is connected through internet.
Working Hours
The library remains closed on every Tuesday. For the rest of the days the library open from 10am to 6:00pm
