Rajkya Sarvajanik Zila Pustakalya (District Library), Pratapgarh

Origin

Pratapgarh is the district headquarter of the district with the same name. It was established by Rajkumar Pratap Singh in 1698.

The library was established on 7th July 2008 after the formaton of the Prtapgarh District in January, 2008

Building

The library is sharing building with Panchayat Samiti Library. The building belongs to the Panchayat Samiti is the district library is allowed to use it doesn't have its own building. Space has been allowted and a building will be coming up shortly for the library in the Mini-secretariate.

Location

Pratapgarh is located at a distance of about 675 Kms from national capital New Delhi and around 255 Kms from state capital Jaipur.

The library is located in the Sadar bazaar area of the city.

Staff

The library has also hired two peons and a computer operator on contract basis to meet its staff shortage.

Collection

The library has a rich collection of 6000+ books. The whole collection has been divided into many general and special sub-collections according to Colon Classifiacation (CC) scheme. A register catalogue is also available.

The library subscribes to 12 newspapers in English & Hindi and 40 magazines.

Membership

The library offers membership for a period of one session (1st April to 31st March) and is renewable thereafter. The membership fee is as under,

Information Technology

The library is yet to acquire computer and other related material.

Working Hours

The library remains closed on every Tuesday. The library timings vary according to the season.

• Summer (I^st April to 30^th September) 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
• Winter (I^st October to 31^st March) 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
