District Library Bathinda

Origin

The library was established in 1980s. It was started at Quila of Bathinda (Bathinda Fort), the historic fort of the city. Later on it was shifted to present rented building at Zila Parishad in 90s.

Building

The library is located on the Ist floor of a two storey building. On reaching the Ist floor through you enter the lobby. Straight in front is the reading room. On the left are a stack room, store and technical seciton. On the right are toilets, Librarian's room and one more stack room.

Location

The library is located in the Zila Parishad building, which accomodates other offices of the district administration also. Its on a road leading to Gonewal and is close to Pukhraj Cinema. When going towards the main Bus Stand of the City just take right turn from the Fouji Chowk and the library is on the right of the road a little distance away.

Staff

The library was headed by following librarians:

1. Mr Badri Narayan Goyal from 12-7-1974 to 30-9-1985
2. Mr Karamvir Anand from 3-1-1987 to 23-1-1990
3. Mr Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal from 25-5-1990 to present

Collection

The Library has about 26,000 documents on its shelves. Apart from these the library subscribes to the following Newspapers and Magazines:

The Library has 700 registered members till date.
