District Library Faridkot
Origin
The library was established in 1982. It was started in a rented accomodation near Nehru Shopping Centre. It was shifted to its present location in February 1992.
Building
The library occupies a apacious single storey building. It is at a prime location (named Baba Farid Sabhyacharak Kendar) just outside the city. It shares its premises with the Red Cross Auditorium, a Red Cross Canteen, a School for Hearing Impaired and an Old Age Home.
The entrance faces South. On entring there is a gallery running perpendicullar to the entrance. On the left this gallery opens into the Reading Room-cum-Stack Room. It is a spacious hall. The Circulation Desk, Reference Section and Technical Section are all attached to this hall. The Store and toilets are along the gallery.
Location
The library is located just outside the city on the Road leading to Talwandi and Amritsar on one side and Kotakpura on the other. The location is also known as bypass. The library is seperated from the city by a canal named Rajasthan Feeder Canal.
